This 1972 Mercury Comet two-door sedan is an F-code GT that is finished in white with black accents over a red interior. The current owner acquired the car in 1992 and has since had it repainted and a replacement 302ci V8 installed. Equipment includes a three-speed automatic transmission, a four-barrel carburetor, GT badging, sport mirrors, slotted 14″ wheels, unassisted drum brakes, an electric choke, and a late-model cassette player. Approximately 1k miles have been added since the 1990s, and the oil was changed in early 2021.
The car was delivered new in white and the exterior is said to have been refinished under current ownership following repair of a rear quarter panel. Features include a black hood treatment, grille, and matching side stripes as well as a hood scoop, sport mirrors, and GT badging.
Slotted 14″ wheels show US Indy Mag castings on their inner faces, although American Racing center-cap decals have been applied. The wheels are mounted with 225/70 Performance Steel Radial tires, and a matching spare wheel is located in the trunk.
The interior features bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in red with textured inserts. Black carpeting covers the floors, and matching mats are fitted in the front and rear footwells. An AM/FM/cassette stereo from a 1997 Ford F-150 is mounted in the dashboard.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 26k miles.
The car was delivered new with an F-code 302ci V8, and a replacement engine of matching displacement is said to have been sourced from a 1984 Ford Crown Victoria and installed under current ownership.
