This 1967 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is one of 4,183 convertibles built for the model year and was acquired by the seller in 2019, reportedly following several years of display on the showroom floor of a California dealership. The car is finished in red with a black interior and soft top, and it is powered by a 1.5-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include a woodgrain dash, a folding rear bench seat, a black top boot, chrome bumpers, and reverse lights. Service in May 2021 consisted of an oil change as well as valve and carburetor adjustments, and the tires were replaced in preparation for the sale.
The body has been refinished in Cherry Red (L554) and is accented by re-chromed bumpers. Equipment includes a replacement black canvas convertible top, a matching boot, a driver-side mirror, and VW Sekurit glass.
Steel 15″ wheels have been powder-coated black and wear chrome covers and Coker BF Goodrich whitewall radial tires that were mounted in preparation for the sale. A matching spare with an older tire is stowed in the front trunk.
The cabin features black vinyl upholstery on the front bucket and folding rear bench seats. Charcoal square-weave replacement carpets line the floors, and additional features include a woodgrain dash panel with visible repaired cracks, a black top pad, a locking glovebox with a cracked door, and roll-up windows. The car is said to have been ordered with the radio-delete option when new. One-year-only features unique to 1967 models include a two-speed windshield wiper switch, window cranks, arm rests, seat belts, and a rearview mirror.
The black two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 90-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and an inoperable analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 67k miles.
The air-cooled 1.5L flat-four breathes through a Solex downdraft carburetor and a dual-exit exhaust system. Service in May 2021 consisted of adjusting the valves and carburetor as well as an oil change.
