The Vista-Roof was first introduced in 1964 and included a raised roof above the cargo area as well as a four-piece skylight with two windows above the second row of seating and two side panel windows above the cargo area. This example is finished in faded Sterling Mist (W), and features include quad headlights, reverse lights, chrome bumpers, bright trim, Vista Cruiser badging, a power-operated tailgate window, and dual side mirrors. A layer of clear coat was previously sprayed on the body.
The 15″ Cragar S/S wheels are mounted with 235/60 front and 255/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A redline tires. The car is equipped with power steering, a Borgeson 14:1 ratio steering box, and rear air shocks. Stopping is provided by a power-assisted dual-reservoir master cylinder which activates front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features bench seating that is upholstered in red vinyl (965) and is accented by a coordinating dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include front vent windows, patterned-metal dash trim, second-row sun visors, an aftermarket pushbutton radio with auxiliary input, a 12-volt power socket, and air conditioning.
The steering wheel sits ahead of a sweeping 120-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge.
The 389ci V8 was reportedly sourced from a 1965 Pontiac and was installed under previous ownership. It features a Howard’s camshaft, an Edelbrock carburetor and Performer intake manifold, a serpentine accessory drive, an aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, and a finned aluminum air cleaner and valve covers. Work under previous ownership has included rebuilding the carburetor, installing a stainless-steel fuel tank and Edelbrock electric fuel pump, and replacing the air conditioning condenser, dryer, and lines as well as the spark plugs, plug wires, starter, and fuel lines.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed TH400 automatic transmission. A custom dual exhaust system has been fitted utilizing Dynomax mufflers.
