This 1960 Triumph TR3A was acquired by the current owner in 1993 and underwent a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment that was completed in 1997. Work included refreshing the cylinder head, resealing the four-speed manual transmission, and overhauling the carburetors, steering, suspension, and brake hydraulic systems. The car was repainted in its current shade of British Racing Green while the interior was reupholstered in red vinyl. Power is supplied by a 2.0-liter inline-four, and additional equipment includes a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, electronic ignition, and fender-mounted side mirrors.
Repairs were made to the bodywork, the chrome trim was refinished, and the car was repainted in its current shade of British Racing Green by Gene McCafferty’s British Sports Cars of Rocklin, California in the late 1990s. The grille was also replaced, and additional equipment includes a chrome front bumper with overriders, rear bumperettes, and fender-mounted side mirrors. A replacement black soft top is included in the sale.
Wire-spoke 15″ wheels with two-eared knock-off spinners are wrapped in 165R15 Michelin XZX tires. The brake hydraulic cylinders and calipers were rebuilt and the steering and suspension refreshed during the refurbishment. The brake fluid was flushed in June 2021.
The interior was refreshed with red vinyl upholstery with white piping along with matching replacement carpets. Latch-and-link lap belts are fitted for both occupants. The ignition and glovebox lock tumblers were replaced in June 2021.
A three-spoke banjo-style steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, both of which were overhauled during the refurbishment. The five-digit odometer was reset to zero at that time and currently indicates 600 miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 2.0-liter inline-four is equipped with dual SU side-draft carburetors and an electronic ignition system. The cylinder head received machine work and the timing chain assembly was replaced during the refurbishment. The fuel pump was rebuilt in 2010 while the water pump and starter were replaced in 2012. An oil change was performed and the fuel system drained and cleaned in June 2021.
The four-speed manual transmission is equipped with overdrive, which was resealed in 2015. A replacement clutch release cylinder was also installed at that time, while the clutch hydraulic fluid was flushed in June 2021.
