This 1959 Cadillac Series 62 is a four-window ‘flat top’ sedan that was acquired by the seller out of New York in 2016 from its reported second owner. Power is provided by a 390ci V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, and the car is finished in Beaumont Beige with a white roof over Fawn upholstery. Equipment includes power-assisted brakes and steering as well as a six-way electrically adjustable front seat, power windows, and a Delco Am radio. Maintenance in 2020 included a generator rebuild, transmission service, and brake adjustment.
The Series 62 was restyled for 1959 with updated front and rear grilles, a Series 62-specific single-row rear grille, upright fins, and dual-bullet tail lights. This example was ordered in Beaumont Beige (44) with a white (12) roof, and the seller states that the bodysides were refinished at an unknown point during previous ownership. Additional equipment includes a left-side mirror, a power antenna, fender skirts, and reverse lights.
Steel 15″ wheels wear chrome covers and Coker Classic wide-whitewall radial tires, and a matching spare is equipped in the trunk. Standard equipment includes power-assisted steering and four-wheel drum brakes.
Two-tone Fawn seat upholstery is clad in protective plastic, and contrasting darker carpets and dashboard trim accent the cabin. Factory features include power-operated windows, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an AM radio as well as GM’s automatic headlight dimming system called “Autronic Eye” which is retained on the left corner of the dashboard.
The two-spoke steering wheel with a full horn ring frames a 120-mph horizontal-sweep speedometer as well as gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Approximately 77k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer.
The 390ci V8 produced 325 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque when new, and power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. The generator was rebuilt, the transmission seals were inspected, and the brakes were adjusted in September 2020. Additional service during prior ownership included replacement of engine seals and gaskets as well as rebuilding the carburetor.
