This 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 is a four-seat BT7 roadster that was built in November 1961. The car is finished in two-tone metallic blue and cream white over black leather upholstery, and power comes from a replacement 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Delivered from the factory in black, the car is said to have been repainted in its current metallic blue and cream white under current ownership. Features include chrome bumpers with overriders, fender-mounted side mirrors, and a faux hood scoop. A service of the turn signals was performed in June 2021.
The black soft top features a plastic rear window, and a set of side curtains is included in the sale. The 15″ 60-spoke painted wire wheels feature chrome two-eared knock-off hubs and were installed with 165/80 Nexen SB-802 tires by Hendrix Wire Wheel of Greensboro, North Carolina in June 2008. A matching spare wheel with a Bridgestone tire is mounted in the trunk. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features front and rear seating trimmed in black leather with a matching dash pad, door panels, and carpets. Features include a heater, lap belts, and a wood shift knob.
The Moto-Lita steering wheel is mounted on an adjustable steering column ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows over 81k miles.
The replacement 2.9-liter inline-six was fitted under previous ownership and features twin SU carburetors. An electronic ignition and an electric cooling fan are also fitted.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with an overdrive function controlled by a dashboard-mounted switch. A stainless steel exhaust system is also fitted. The throttle kick-out switch was bypassed under previous ownership and is now actuated by a switch under the dash to the left of the steering column according to the seller.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists factory numbers and colors as well as a despatch date of December 8, 1961.
A spare 2.9-liter inline-six and four-speed manual transmission are included in the sale along with a collection of spare parts.
