This 1976 Datsun 280Z was acquired by the seller five years ago, reportedly following time in California and Nevada. This 1976 Datsun 280Z was acquired by the seller five years ago, reportedly following time in California and Nevada. Power is provided by a 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and work under current ownership included a repaint in copper as well as polishing the cylinder head and installing a Schneider camshaft, triple Weber 40 DCOE 151 carburetors, a high-output oil pump, headers, a 2.5″ exhaust system, aftermarket ignition components, a Maxi fuse box, fiberglass bumpers, and 15″ König Rewind wheels. A new water pump, a high-output oil pump, and tune-up parts were installed in June 2021.
The car was repainted in copper and fitted with MSA 240Z-style fiberglass bumpers under current ownership. Additional details include body-colored side mirrors, a black taillight panel, tinted glass, and bright window trim.
Polished 15″ König Rewind wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich front and Kumho rear tires. The 280Z came from the factory with four-wheel independent suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, and power-assisted front disc brakes.
The seats and door panels are trimmed in tan vinyl accented by a brown dashboard and center console. Amenities include a locking glovebox, 280Z-branded floor mats, and an Alpine CD player linked to aftermarket 6×9″ speakers in the rear storage compartment wall. Removed air conditioning components will accompany the car.
A wood-rimmed MOMO steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer, while gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level are mounted above the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 39k miles.
The 2.8-liter inline-six has reportedly been modified with a polished cylinder head as well as a Schneider Stage 2 camshaft, and also features triple Weber 40 DCOE 151 carburetors as well as an MSD ignition system, a Koyorad aluminum radiator, and MSA exhaust headers feeding 2″ piping. The engine is said to have been removed prior to repainting its compartment black. A June 2021 service included installation of a new water pump and high-output oil pump in addition to fresh spark plugs, ignition wires, and distributor components.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was reportedly serviced with a new shift fork, seals, and throwout bearing.
The sale includes service records from the seller and previous owner as well as spares such as the removed camshaft, bumpers, intake manifold, a fuel rail, injectors, ECU, alternator, and steering wheel.
