This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that was built on September 15, 1969, and is said to have been purchased by the seller from its second owner in 2017 after approximately 15 years in storage. An ensuing refurbishment was completed in 2019. The car is finished in British Racing Green with a black soft top over red leather upholstery, and power comes from a numbers-matching 4.2-liter XK inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Features include triple SU carburetors, an electronic distributor and ignition, an electric fuel pump, and air conditioning.
Delivered from the factory in Ascot Fawn, the car was stripped to bare metal and painted in its current British Racing Green in 2019. New body seals were also installed, along with a replacement antenna, windshield wiper arms, and washer nozzles. Features include taillights located below the rear bumper, wraparound chrome bumpers and bumperettes, a chrome luggage rack, driver-door-mounted and passenger-side fender mirrors, fender-mounted reflectors, and uncovered headlight buckets. There is a chip in the windshield, which is also delaminating in the upper-left corner.
The 15” chrome wire wheels are secured by three-lobed knock-offs and are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were installed during the refurbishment. A spare steel wheel with a matching Vredestein tire is mounted under the trunk floor. Brake work performed during the refurbishment included the replacement the master cylinder, brake cylinders, and new front pads.
The interior features refurbished seats trimmed in red leather as well as replacement footwell carpets overlaid by black rubber floor mats. New seat and headrest foam was installed during the refurbishment, and equipment includes a center console with an armrest, an Astro Line AM/FM radio, and an air-conditioning system that was installed under previous ownership.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel was refinished during the refurbishment and frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer. Gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows over 84k miles.
The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six was fitted with triple SU carburetors under previous ownership, and they were overhauled during the refurbishment. Additional work performed included a replacement thermostat, hoses, battery, ignition coil, spark plugs, air filter seals, and an electronic distributor and ignition, along with an overhaul of the cooling system that included a radiator recore and rebuild.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. A replacement exhaust system from the manifold downpipes back was installed during the refurbishment, along with an electric fuel pump and a new in-tank fuel filter.
