This 1968 Datsun 1600 roadster was first sold by Turner Implement Co. of Yakima, Washington, on August 1, 1968, and is said to have remained with the family of its original owner until it was acquired by the seller in 2017. The car is finished in yellow over black vinyl upholstery, and power comes from a 1.6-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black fiberglass hardtop, a roll bar, a luggage rack, and an electric fuel pump.
Delivered from the factory in yellow, the car underwent a color change to green in the 1970s before it was repainted in its current yellow in 1979 aLording to the seller. Features include chrome bumpers with overriders, side moldings, a black top boot, and a chrome luggage rack. The chrome has dulled on the rear bumper above the exhaust, and dents are noted on the bumper guards.
The 14″ painted steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 185/75 Uniroyal TigerPaw AWP II tires. A matching spare wheel with a whitewall tire is mounted in the trunk.
The seats are trimmed in black vinyl with matching door panels and carpets. The rollbar was installed under previous ownership. The AM radio is inoperable, and there is a tear in the lower outer bolster of the driver’s seat.
The three-spoke steering wheel wears a vinyl wrap and frames a 120-mph speedometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, amperage, oil pressure, and fuel level. Over 66k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, 700 of which were added under current ownership.
The 1.6-liter R16 inline-four is equipped with twin Hitachi carburetors. An oil change was performed in January 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. An electric fuel pump is fitted.
The original sales invoice shows a total sale price of $2,850.
